Future Shock and the Police State – Freedom Feens live radio archive

protesting

Freedom Feens Chandler St. Pierre, Michael W. Dean and Garrett Fox talk about the very prescient 1970 book Future Shock, and why some cops want to wreck you day even when you’ve done nothing wrong. Also: The TV Babies vs. The Chromed Robot Babies.

  1. Re: “Futurshock” – I’ve often thought about and discussed this with my Grandma who’s in her 90s. It must be startling to have lived through so much technological change. And now I know there’s a name for it!

I also recently had a shocking discovery recently that some people only own devices such as Kindles/tablets etc. I was getting frustrated about a volunteer not getting something done only to find out they do not own a personal computer and therefore could not complete the project. It seemed insane to me that in 2014 a 20-something had no personal computer. I understand better now that you pointed out there are computers for consuming and computers for creating and some younger folks lean towards the consuming.

    1. I’ll bet the government would love to require a license for any device that can make media.

Love your comments Gretchen! Don’t always reply, I have information overload!
