Submitting News Items

Please submit show prep (News Item Suggestions for Freedom Feens) as a comment below. Michael and Neema are overwhelmed from getting 200 e-mails, Facebook messages and more per day. And it’s the same five or ten items per day, over and over. Please stop submitting them over and over via e-mail and Facebook. Please check below to see if they’ve already been submitted (the most recent comments are higher up the page), then if they haven’t been submitted, and you want to submit them, please submit them here. If it’s your first time posting on the Feens, you’ll have to submit a valid e-mail address and we’ll have to moderate it, but after the first time you shouldn’t need to do that.

If you forget where this page is, there’s a link at the top of the Freedom Feens front page that says “Submitting News Items.”

Please, DO NOT JUST POST A LINK. Post a link and a short-but-clear-description of what the link is. Thanks!

Older posts we’ve covered, or decided not to cover, will be cleared out from time to time.

Thanks! – MWD

“The FPS Russia people made this video showing a “prototype” quadrotor equipped with a machine gun. Yes, a remote controlled flying machine gun. They take it for a spin and shoot some targets, as they usually do.

In reality, this weaponized quadrotor or quadrotorized weapon is just a fun 3D animation, lifting the concept from Metal Gear Solid. But you can bet the US military is working in stuff like this right now. It’s only a matter of time before the weight/power ratio is good enough to make it happen. The Army and the Marines would love this thing.”

How about unintended consequences with guns? If I had an AR 15 and they got banned, I’d sell it at the inflated price and buy 4 Mini 14s.

With a 7 shot limit, a New York reload is more true than ever. Will they limit the number of revolvers folks can carry?

    • MichaelWDean says

In most Nanny states, a carry permit, if you can get one, not only limits you to carrying one gun, it limits you to a particular gun. In California, a permit has the gun’s serial number on it. If your gun gets stolen there, you have to apply for an amended permit for the new one. Good luck with that!

Not so in Wyoming. Here, we wake up and think “Hmmmmm…..which gun should I carry today?”, like other people choose shoes or a tie. And there’s no legal limit to the number of handguns you can legally carry here, with or without a permit.

      • David MN says

That’s what’s funny. In MN I can carry pretty much anything with a permit, if I had one or owned any guns. Suppose someone in NY carrying 5 or 6 revolvers like the old cowboy days. Fire 6 shots, toss the gun. Draw the next. Just think of all the clunky revolvers skittering across the streets during gang violence and falling into the hands of “the children”. Just an image I can’t keep from laughing at. Unintended consequences.

Central Scrutinizer: I don’t know what a gun is, have never seen one, never held one, and am in general scared of metal.

And apparently I guess from looking at this article http://www.nytimes.com/2013/02/23/us/drone-pilots-found-to-get-stress-disorders-much-as-those-in-combat-do.html?_r=0 a new “study” purports to find that pilots of drone aircraft experience mental health problems like depression, anxiety and post-traumatic stress at the same rate as pilots of manned aircraft who are deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan. Petition Response: Our States Remain United

By Jon Carson, Director of the Office of Public Engagement

Thank you for using the White House’s online petitions platform to participate in your government.

In a nation of 300 million people — each with their own set of deeply-held beliefs — democracy can be noisy and controversial. And that’s a good thing. Free and open debate is what makes this country work, and many people around the world risk their lives every day for the liberties we often take for granted.

But as much as we value a healthy debate, we don’t let that debate tear us apart.

Our founding fathers established the Constitution of the United States “in order to form a more perfect union” through the hard and frustrating but necessary work of self-government. They enshrined in that document the right to change our national government through the power of the ballot — a right that generations of Americans have fought to secure for all. But they did not provide a right to walk away from it. As President Abraham Lincoln explained in his first inaugural address in 1861, “in contemplation of universal law and of the Constitution the Union of these States is perpetual.” In the years that followed, more than 600,000 Americans died in a long and bloody civil war that vindicated the principle that the Constitution establishes a permanent union between the States. And shortly after the Civil War ended, the Supreme Court confirmed that “[t]he Constitution, in all its provisions, looks to an indestructible Union composed of indestructible States.”

Although the founders established a perpetual union, they also provided for a government that is, as President Lincoln would later describe it, “of the people, by the people, and for the people” — all of the people. Participation in, and engagement with, government is the cornerstone of our democracy. And because every American who wants to participate deserves a government that is accessible and responsive, the Obama Administration has created a host of new tools and channels to connect concerned citizens with White House. In fact, one of the most exciting aspects of the We the People platform is a chance to engage directly with our most outspoken critics.

So let’s be clear: No one disputes that our country faces big challenges, and the recent election followed a vigorous debate about how they should be addressed. As President Obama said the night he won re-election, “We may have battled fiercely, but it’s only because we love this country deeply and we care so strongly about its future.”

Whether it’s figuring out how to strengthen our economy, reduce our deficit in a responsible way, or protect our country, we will need to work together — and hear from one another — in order to find the best way to move forward. I hope you’ll take a few minutes to learn more about the President’s ideas and share more of your own.

Tell us what you think about this response and We the People.

So I searched it on wikipedia and sure enough, within the first paragraph you find the word “anarchist” used to describe the killer. I’ve attached the link to the wiki to save you button clicks.

The best quote on the top fold was:

“Czolgosz had lost his job during the economic Panic of 1893 and turned to anarchism, a political philosophy whose adherents had killed foreign leaders. Regarding McKinley as a symbol of oppression, Czolgosz felt it was his duty as an anarchist to kill him. Unable to get near McKinley during the earlier part of the presidential visit, Czolgosz shot McKinley twice as the President reached to shake his hand in the reception line at the temple. One bullet grazed McKinley; the other entered his abdomen and was never found.”

I’ve heard a few offhand remarks on the cast regarding prepping. I have been something of a prepper for a couple of years now and I think this would be a fun topic to address. We already talk gold and guns but I would like to go deeper.

For those of us looking to abandon government, there is no better way than to grow, can, and store as much of our own food as possible. My wife and I love the growing season when a good majority of our fruits and vegetables can come from our yard. We trade some of our produce and my homemade soap to friends who hunt for meat.

Think of how much government is avoided when we eat venison steak with homegrown homemade applesauce and homegrown sauteed spinach for our friends & family. Food freedom is such a powerful way to resist taxation and regulation (and achieve better health).

    • J.Haynes says

David, I think being prepped to an extent is a good idea, but it can become too all consuming to some.

Will the world end in 2012? Will a super volcano erupt in Yellow Stone soon? Will a nuclear holocaust come to the State? Will the Nanny State rise up and put everyone in detainment camps? Will the anti-christ come out of a revived Roman empire and force all to take The Mark? No one knows that any of this will ever occur, ever–whether fact or fiction. Each one is a what if scenario that may actually never happen in the next millinia.

I feel that the media is sensationalizing the idea of preppring based on the fears of people in the States. The current economy, coupled with the state of the world incites worry within the people. The media is using the prepper phenomenon to market the idea to their own fears. That is my opinion any ways.

A good topic for Freedom Feens? Sure.

J.- I really try not to go to the end of the world with this stuff, primarily because I don’t believe the end is coming. Things are a bit rocky for me right now due to a job loss but I really can’t get behind the belief that it’s all going to fall apart.

My real focus is not prepping as much as self sufficiency. I don’t think people realize how much government there is in an apple bought at the store. Not just taxes but regulations up and down from chemicals used in growing to transportation to inspection of facilities, etc.

When we do something so small as planting an apple tree, all those things disappear. Look at the sustainable people living in earthships in New Mexico. What need of government do they have? I realize I can’t put a lemon tree in my front yard here in MN but man, have I got raspberries, currants, cherries, apples, annuals, and herb pots all over the house. I even grew rice in buckets this year. And I”ll gladly give raspberry shoots to anyone local to pay it forward.

When we provide our own food, shelter, heat, and security it makes the government seem silly. They will tell you that raw milk and young French cheeses will kill you but a diet of Twinkies, candy bars, and microwave dinners are safe (not to put any of those down, we all need a little junk food from time to time).

I hope I’m making sense to the F(f)eens out there. David.

David MN, I like your idea. Makes sense to me. Perhaps if we all had a little bit of prepper in us this place would be better off?

This article is about a school being tried for locking up their students without following due process. The interesting and shocking part of it is WHY they’re actually being prosecuted. Note the bottom of the article cites the state saying That they are the first to be cited due to the others have cooperated with the feds. Not because what they are doing is wrong, but because they didnt cooperate with the investigation. The article goes on to say that there are other schools that are known to do his but are not being prosecuted.

Not much of a light shedding article, but does give a little insight in to what the FBI has been doing in regards to anarchists in the north-western states.

    https://nopoliticalrepression.wordpress.com/2012/10/21/fbi-affidavit-demonstrates-political-nature-of-fbi-investigation/

“On October 18, SeattlePI.com ran an important article, “Agent: FBI tailed Portland anarchists headed to May Day riot.” While the piece describes previously unavailable details of the FBI’s investigation into the May Day actions, the most important fact is contained in the first sentence:

“the FBI’s interest in several suspects predated the political vandalism that swept downtown Seattle.”
Though the May 1 protest and the attack on the Federal Court House in particular, has been cited as the cause of the current FBI/Grand Jury investigation, the article clearly shows that the FBI was already keeping a close watch on Portland-area anarchists — following their vehicles and monitoring their text messages, at the least.

CAPR has consistently argued that the extensive surveillance, swat raids, and grand jury subpoenas were not simply a response to a few broken windows but demonstrate an effort to criminalize the political philosophy of anarchism.”

Lately, Mike Janke has been getting what he calls the “hairy eyeball” from international government agencies. The 44-year-old former Navy SEAL commando, together with two of the world’s most renowned cryptographers, was always bound to ruffle some high-level feathers with his new project—a surveillance-resistant communications platform that makes complex encryption so simple your grandma can use it.

This week, after more than two years of preparation, the finished product has hit the market. Named Silent Circle, it is in essence a series of applications that can be used on a mobile device to encrypt communications—text messages, plus voice and video calls. Currently, apps for the iPhone and iPad are available, with versions for Windows, Galaxy, Nexus, and Android in the works. An email service is also soon scheduled to launch.”
