Grunge Rocker turned Grange Rocker Krist Novoselic is possibly the most interesting man in the world. He’s straight outta Compton via Seattle, and Croatia. He’s an airplane pilot, author, political activist, candidate for office, radio personality, and gentleman farmer. He played bass in a little-known rock musical group called Nirvana. He survived playing in the band Flipper. He’s quit the music business, but was just inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and he’s currently playing music for kicks with members of The Foo Fighters, The Germs and The Beatles.
In a rare 90-minute interview, he tells Michael W. Dean and Neema V all about playing bass in Nirvana and Flipper, the DIY or DIE ethic, punk rock, how Krist and Kurt Cobain loved MWD’s band Bomb, and Krist’s ideas on changing democracy for the better.
The Right Honourable Neema Vedadi and Sir Michael Wareham Dean drop mad science about “guns for weed” statism, new word for square statism = BORING, COINTELPRO, FEMA guillotines?, White Rose, why does the government have to tell you things your parents should have told you?, more statist auto-correct mishaps: minarchist switches to monarchist, Neema and Michael say they love each other (no homo), why we need drug shows as well as gun shows, a logical fallacy in a Dead Kennedys lyric, Worms Turn Metal Into Semiconductors, and Senate extends warrantless wiretapping under FISA…..
Michael W. Dean and Neema Vedadi talk about how, Good People Don’t Steal, Rape Or Kill, Even If They Can Get Away With It – and how voting is theft, rape and murder by proxy. Then they take some very, um, animated calls and talk about honey-do lists (and why Michael doesn’t need them), why Michael listens to his own music for eight hours straight, the Freedom Feens DANCE CONTEST!, the Gun Training Torrent, the cool new Feens syndicators AnarchoRadio.com, Gary Johnson campaign’s spam techniques, What Do I Tell My Black Child If Obama loses, bond issues as theft, why the library tax bugs Michael and DJ more than the presidential election, the funny 1959 movie The Mouse That Roared,
Michael W. Dean and Neema Vedadi talk about how the presidential debate is basically gonna look like one schizo dude arguing with himself, how tranny hookers and krokodil are what LibPar will look like, the difference between a libertarian and an anarchist, Our massive throughput, The Rolling Scabs‘ song “My Mom Smokes Pot”, how cops are realistically depicted in the show Treme, the film Dr. Bronner’s Magic Soapbox, and Robot police drones could put disabled cops back on the beat.
Below is the SM Audio TB-202 rack-mount phantom-power two-channel tube-preamp, EQ and compressor (a unit that isn’t made anymore). Michael gave it to Neema (on the air) as an early Christmas present. (It’s the red thing on the top shelf in this photo of Neema’s studio):
Michael W. Dean and Neema Vedadi talk about how hunting and roads would work in a libertarian paradise, why public libraries and the Post Office are obsolete dinosaurs thrashing in the tar pits, the movies The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and Hard Core Logo, a modest proposal for eliminating libraries, Rumspringa, Guns and Weed movie sold as a “crime” DVD, not using ALL CAPS for good SEO and ranking on Reddit, did Hitler really make the trains run on time?, privatization and how it would REALLY work, and statists who love the state even when the state takes away their business.
