Grunge Rocker turned Grange Rocker Krist Novoselic is possibly the most interesting man in the world. He’s straight outta Compton via Seattle, and Croatia. He’s an airplane pilot, author, political activist, candidate for office, radio personality, and gentleman farmer. He played bass in a little-known rock musical group called Nirvana. He survived playing in the band Flipper. He’s quit the music business, but was just inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and he’s currently playing music for kicks with members of The Foo Fighters, The Germs and The Beatles.
In a rare 90-minute interview, he tells Michael W. Dean and Neema V all about playing bass in Nirvana and Flipper, the DIY or DIE ethic, punk rock, how Krist and Kurt Cobain loved MWD’s band Bomb, and Krist’s ideas on changing democracy for the better.
The Feens tell you how not to be a fear monger and rumor spreader when it comes to tyranny media, they talk about audio gear, and have an amazing sound. They imitate a call from bad libertarian Paul Anderson, then actually take a call from bad libertarian Paul Anderson. Michael wonders if Paul Anderson is a sociopath, and Paul Anderson wonders if Stefan Molyneux is a sociopath. The Feens also review the punk rock movie Suburbia and the great documentary on YouTube called Broadcasting’s Forgotten Father, the Charles Herrold Story, which is about the first-ever talk radio host in 1911.
Neema Vedadi visits his family and has his mother and his younger brother Knight join the cast. Michael has DJ join on his end. Spirits are high as the Feens families talk about why The Family unit is a threat to the State, why Texas and Wyoming WILL NOT DISARM, how schools are prisons, Appeasement, the unintended consequences of adding more gun laws, and the joys of saying “WELL F————– YOU!” to illegitimate authority.
Michael and Neema have a cluster-fark of epic proportions, everything technical that can go wrong does, but they still do a pretty good liberty-oriented show anyway. They talk about voters saying “NO!” to stealing more tax money for a useless library, Libido Dominandi, how horrible Democracy is, how Iran does not want to kill you, wonder why the hell anyone would want to help buy drug dogs for cops who can’t afford them, wonder when Obama will do a big gun grab to throw all the Romeny voters in prison, the lunacy of “meth project” billboards, Colorado and Washington legalize pot and wouldn’t it be funny if the thing that actually leads to the 10th Amendment showdown that all the gun folks want turns out to be weed?, analog computers, the wonders of the online vacuum tube museum, free Feen movie torrents, and the joys of being both puerile and serious at the same time, i.e. Bathetic.
Michael W. Dean and Neema Vedadi take live calls and discuss with the Feens how it’s a false dilemma that you HAVE to “vote for the lesser of two evils”, partially because they’re both SO DAMN EVIL and want cancer patients to be thrown in prison for seeking relief. They talk about Hippie Valium, the poor man’s speedball, statists, liberty, Larry Flint, what a homophobe Rand Paul is, and moving beyond just bitching about the state. Then tell all the secrets of how they record.
