Resources for those new to Liberty (or those who want to learn more.)
A lot of people ask me things like “I like what I’ve heard of libertarianism, but need to know more. Can you help?” or “What is this ‘anarchy’ of which you speak? I thought that meant blowing things up and chaos, but you aren’t violent and you seem very non-chaotic. Can you explain?”
I usually type long letters to these folks, but it ends up taking a lot of time. So I’ve assembled a set of great resources for the beginner or intermediate to liberty and an-cap ideology. Enjoy! And if you have any questions AFTER checking out all this media, let me know. Thanks!
FIRST, READ THIS SHORT BOOK “RATS!” BY CLAIRE WOLFE ABOUT RECOGNIZING GOVERNMENT SNITCHES.
Lsten to some of this guy’s podcasts, Ben Stone, the Bad Quaker. Listen to ones at first that are not interviews, where Ben’s just talking and droppin’ mad science: http://www.badquaker.com/
And Liberty Radio Network: Bookmark it and keep it on in the background. It’s like NPR for market anarchists. http://lrn.fm/flashplayer/
FEENS BOOK CLUB:
Get Michael’s free book: A USER’S MANUAL FOR THE HUMAN EXPERIENCE.
Read some Lysander Spooner.
Also read Murray Rothbard’s brilliant and short book “Anatomy of the State” (takes an hour or two to read.) He INVENTED the term “anarcho-capitalism” and codified a lot of the ideas reiterated by all the media I mentioned above. Free PDF of it is HERE. Paperback: Anatomy of the State.
Feens co-host Bill Buppert, founder of ZeroGov.com and wrote ZeroGov: Limited Government, Unicorns and Other Mythological Creatures.
These are good podcasts:
Here’s some kinda advanced An-Cap stuff: http://bastiat.mises.org/
Check out “GUNS AND WEED: THE ROAD TO FREEDOM”
And there’s a lot listed at The Daily AnCap, a sort of aggregator for AnCap media, updates when new posts show.
Claire Wolfe’s near-daily excellent blog. She was writing about liberty when I was in short pants and riding my tricycle.
Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF), fighting in court for electronic freedom since 1990.
And of course, The FREEDOM FEENS Podcast:
Michael W. Dean and Neema Vedadi’s fun ‘n’ feisty twice-weekly chat about libertarian, agorist, voluntaryist and anarchist issues, abuse of authority by police, the War on Drugs, self-defense, Natural Rights, Austrian Economics, activism, DIY no-budget filmmaking, digital recording, cats, dogs, punk rock, hip-hop, sex and more.
Freedom Feens Radio = Liberty, comedy, punk rock, hip-hop.
24-7 streaming link. Bookmark it! Whee!
And the Freedom Feens now have a blog:
